Berry bowl colander with satin vanilla glaze. Perfect for washing fruit, berries, tomatoes, salads and then serving on the table.
Part of my stoneware tableware created for everyday use, cosy suppers and sharing meals with friends. They make a wonderful present for a food-loving friend.
Handmade ceramics process
Each berry bowl colander is thrown on my potters wheel. The holes are individually pierced with a hand tool.
Once bone dry they are are fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens them sufficiently for glazing. They are dip glazed in a satin vanilla glaze before I fire them again to 1250 degrees.
Each colander is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike and each much takes approximately 3 weeks to make from start to finish, including making, drying, bisque firing, glazing and final high firing.
This listing is for one berry bowl colander. Side plates, pasta bowls and other matching items to complete your tableware set are available in separate listings.
Handmade in my studio on the south coast of England.
