Men’s stoneware wet shaving bowl.
Hand thrown stoneware shaving bowl. Spiral ridge on inside creates the perfect lather for a clean wet shave. Finished in satin vanilla glaze.
Handmade ceramics process
These shaving bowls are made from a toasted buff stoneware clay which I throw on the wheel. I turn a rimmed handle on the base so you can get a firm grip on the bowl. A spiral groove is added to the inside to aid the lathering process.
The bowls are fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens them so they can be glazed. They are dipped in a satin vanilla glaze before I fire them again to 1250 degrees.
Each shaving bowl is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike and each much takes approximately 3 weeks to make from start to finish, including making, drying, bisque firing, glazing and final high firing.
This listing is for one shaving bowl only, brush and razor not included.
If you would like a larger shaving bowl, please ask for a custom size.
Handmade in my studio on the south coast of England.
