Handmade rectangular ceramic cheese board serving platter with vintage lace textured imprint. Blue and white pottery.
This ceramic cheeseboard is perfect for serving cheese and biscuits, quiches, canapés, cakes or desserts. A lovely gift for a wedding or birthday or Christmas present.
Each serving board is handmade from a slab of white stoneware clay, which I imprint with a vintage lace doily. The platters are high-fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens them sufficiently for them to be glazed. The lace impression is highlighted in a frosted blue underglaze, then I apply 3 coats of shiny transparent glaze to the surface of the board. They are then fired again to 1250 degrees. A tied leather strap is added so you can display them when not in use.
Each platter is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike and each platter takes approximately 3 weeks to make from start to finish, including making, drying, bisque firing, glazing and final high firing.
Handmade in my studio in Emsworth in the south of England.
