Handmade ceramic serving platter / large dinner plate with cow parsley design. Blue and white stoneware pottery.
This ceramic serving plate is perfect tableware for serving food such as cheeses, quiches, canapés, or desserts and is a lovely alternative to a cake stand. They are a lovely gift for a wedding or birthday or Christmas present, for anyone who loves pottery.
Each serving plate is thrown on the wheel using white stoneware clay. The plates are fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens them sufficiently for them to be glazed. The cow parsley design is hand painted, using paper resists and under glaze, in a frosted blue colour, then I apply 3 coats of shiny transparent glaze to the surface of the plate. They are then fired again to 1250 degrees. A tied leather strap is added so you can display them when not in use.
Each serving plate is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike and each much takes approximately 3 weeks to make from start to finish, including making, drying, bisque firing, glazing and final high firing.
Handmade in my studio on the south coast of England.
Please note: Your platter will be handmade especially for you and it will take approx 2/3 weeks for it be ready to be despatched.
